Weekly Community Update: Week 6, Term 1

There’s a lot activity this week, so make sure you download and read a copy of this week’s Community Update cover to cover – you don’t want to miss out….

Throughout this week, please take the time to read the Community Update which you can download from the Newsletter section of this website and have a look around the Newtown Public School website. More dates for 2021 will be added to the calendar on the home page. Some dates will also be added to the Events page.

ACTIONS THIS WEEK

• The NPS READ-A-THON and the PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE commences tomorrow. Everything you need to know will communicated tomorrow:
  • All students will come home with a Read-A-Thon Pack.
  • This pack will also be available on the EVENTS PAGE of the NPS website, including a link to an Online Fundraising Platform
• MEET THE INSTRUMENT EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORMS are due tomorrow, Monday 22^nd February. If you need another copy of the form you can find it on the EVENT PAGE
• GOOD LUCK to all the students representing Newtown Public School at the ZONE SWIMMING CARNIVAL tomorrow
• MEET THE TEACHER is this Thursday, 4^th March. More information is in the Community Update and on the EVENT PAGE of the NPS website
• SCHOOLS CLEAN UP DAY is this Friday 5tth March. To minimise waste, students can bring gardening gloves and a paper bag to use on the day.
• GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE ASSISTANT MINISTER NOMINEES in their elections this week.
• All Statement of Account for Term 1 school payments have now been issued. We thank you for making your payments by WEEK 6, FRIDAY 5^TH MARCH.

• Read about the new MERIT AWARD system.
• The New Reversible Newtown Public School Sports Hat are now available for purchase from Pickles. Please contact the School’s Admin Office for information on sizes – Students can come to the office and try on a hat to find out what size fits and let their parents know.
• Lunch Orders are available to order for Mondays and Tuesdays only. Order deadline is 8am the day of. (more information on About Our School page)

NPS P&C

• Dates and times for the monthly P&C Meeting are available on the Events page.
• The P&C run an Online Second Hand Uniform Shop during Week 3 and Week 7 of each term, you can read more about it here.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Participating in Community Programs such as: Chess, Drama or Mandarin lessons is a way to explore interests outside the classroom. Learn more about these programs here.
