Departments

There are nine Departments within Newtown Public School's Student Parliament. Each year Ministers and Assistant Ministers from each Department meet to discuss what will be their collective goal for the year, how they will support the school to achieve its strategic direction. Each Department will then plan how (THE ACTION) they will achieve the shared parliamentary direction (THE GOAL).

Department of Library

Department of Management

Department of Sustainability

• Do you care about the future of the world?​

• Do you want to have a say in improving sustainability at Newtown Public School?​

Department of Technology

• Do you love learning how technology works?​

• Do you want to have a say in how our school uses technology?​

Department of Arts & Community

• Do you love the creative and performing arts? ​

• Do you love celebrating diversity and inclusivity? ​

• Do you want to have a say in how our whole school events are run?​

Department of Media & Communications

• Do you love sharing what matters to you and our school? ​

• Do you love photography, interviewing people and publishing your work online?​

• Do you want to have a say in how we share all of the fabulous things we do at Newtown Public School?​

Department of Health & Wellbeing

• Do you love to stay healthy?​

• Do you like to help others maximise their strengths?​

• Do you love motivating a team to participate?​

• Do you want to have a say in how NPS looks after its students, inside and out?

Department of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Students

• Are you Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander?​

• Do you want to learn more about and share your culture with the rest of the school?​

Note: members of this department can be members of a second department!​

Department of Student Representative Council

• Is made up of one SRC representative from each class.​

• SRC representatives will be elected in Term 1 each year, in classes.​

SRC Representatives:​

• Work with each class as the voice of the class.​

• Report back from Student Parliament.​

• Work on their own community outreach initiatives. ​
