Financial contributions and assistance

There are some costs associated with going to school that you may find it helpful to plan and budget for.

These include:

  • uniforms

  • school books and equipment

  • excursions

  • co-curricular activities.

Voluntary school contributions

Like all NSW public schools, we can request contributions to enhance our educational and sporting programs including elective subjects. School contributions help provide additional educational resources for the benefit of students. Payment is voluntary.

For more information, visit the Voluntary School Contribution policy.

The Department of Education sets the amount of money public schools can ask families for each child per year. For 2022, the voluntary contribution has been determined at $50 per child.

Each year, families receive this advice on their Term 1 Invoice.

In 2022, all contributions Newtown Public School receives will go to our Future Focused Learning Initiative

Support our school

There are many ways you can make a financial contribution to help support our school.

In 2022, our priority is it  upgrade our school library resources.

We have already made huge improvements to layout and function of our library thanks to community fundraising efforts in 2018 and 2019. Our next step is to upgrade our library resources to include technology and online subscribtions. This addition will begin to align our school library with the modern libraries of today.

Smart board replacement. It is an unfortunate reality that technology ages and must be replaced. Three classrooms are in urgent need of new Smart Boards – please help us.

Thank you to our community for the successful fudraising activities throughout 2021, all our students are now enjoying the new play equipment in the top playgroud.

In 2018, Building Fund donations made significant advances in the renovation of the library and, in 2019 donations to the Building Fund made our school's goal of being more sustainable by adding Solar Panels to the school a reality.

By donating to this fund, you will automatically receive a Tax Deductible receipt. All monies received must be used towards the structural and maintenance of the school building.

To make a Tax deductible donation click on "MAKE A PAYMENT” at the top of this page, under PAYMENT ITEMS click OTHER and write BUILDING FUND in the description box.
