Volunteering at school

Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your child’s education as well as get to know the staff and other parents and carers.

Research shows that children benefit when their parents or carers are actively involved in their education and school life.

You can help by:

  • listening to children read in the classroom
  • volunteering on sports days
  • helping supervise excursions
  • getting involved in fundraising activities
  • joining school committees.

As volunteers, parents, carers and community members enter into a partnership with Newtown Public School that is based on shared responsibility and mutual respect.

With increased policy requirements regarding Child Protection, Privacy and Confidentially and Community Partnership, we have a specific Newtown Public School Code of Conduct for Community Volunteers document. It is aimed at making clear the expectation for all parties in this important community partnership.

If you are planning on volunteering in your child's class or for a school program, please complete the form and bring it with you next time you visit. Copies will also be available for you at the office if you are unable to print.
