Our curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Stage 3 students learn the basics of debating and work to develop these skills as well as finessing their public speaking techniques.
The inter-school teams debate in the Inner West Friendly Debating Competition. The inter-school teams debate in our Newtown Public School Competition. Both competitions involve debating current and interesting topics which students are given ahead of time.
Students from K-6 develop their public speaking skills and compete annually in local Public Speaking Competitions.
Creative and performing arts
Our music programs and alternating art and dance programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and dance productions.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
HPGE Hub
As a member of the Marrickville Network of Schools' HPGE Hub, selected students in Stages 2 and 3 have access to programs that challenge, support and inspire them to excel. These programs include workshops dedicated to Art, Music, Robotics/STEM and Problem Solving. These day-long workshops at our Network's HPGE Hubs are guided by passionate teachers who encourage students through hands-on activities and collaborative learning to develop innovative solutions and creativity in a supportive and inspiring environment.
