STAGE 2 HISTORY ‘FIRST CONTACTS’ EXCURSION: KAMAY BOTANY BAY ENVIRONMENT EDUCATION CENTRE – GROUP A
DATE: Friday 28th May (8:30-3:00pm)
TIME: Students MUST ARRIVE BY 8:30am for a prompt departure
TRAVEL: Chartered bus supervised by teachers
VENUE: Kamay Botany Bay Environmental Centre, Kurnell
COST: $32 (workshop and coach travel)
Students will explore the original landing site where James Cook landed in 1770 at Kurnell. They will consider the traditional use of the land by the Aboriginal people and the meeting of two cultures in 1770. Students will visit the new sculptures and monuments located within the National Park and become botanical artists sketching plants just as the artist Sydney Parkinson did in 1770. Students will record their observations.
Students will enjoy a picnic lunch, so please ensure your child comes to school with a packed lunch/ recess, water bottle and a hat. Please apply sunscreen before leaving home. Full school uniform including hat and closed shoes to be worn. Insect repellent has also been recommended.
